ADDING SPICE
Seeing as Peter Risdon and our own Shaykh Faiz-ul-Aqtab Siddiqi will be facing off next week in debate, Allah Willing, we thought we'd add a bit of spice to the event by pointing out some rather unfair critiques made of Shaykh Faiz's press statements a while ago by Mr Risdon himself which can be found here and here.

In Islam we don't believe in holding personal grudges, we just thought it would be interesting for people to see the articles to add a bit of interest.

DEBATE UPDATE
The room booked at the moment is the Miles Room in St Peter'sCollege, which apparently seats up to 40 people. We have advised the Oxford Secular Society to book a larger room as we have a large demand from people to attend on our side . Starting time will be 7.30pm

Speaking for the MAC will be Shaykh Faiz-ul-Aqtab Siddiqi, his second has yet to be confirmed.

As far as we are aware Peter Risdon will be speaking to oppose the motion:
"The House proposes that Free Expression be regulated by the Proclamation of Global Civility"
We are unaware of who will be seconding him.

DEBATE AND DIALOGUE

Latest Updates:

Allah Willing leading members of the MAC will be meeting with representatives of the PCC committee next week and the PCC code committee will be considering our proposed amendments to the code. Please continue to send letters supporting our proposals to the PCC in the coming week.

The debate chaired by the Oxford Secular Society has been pencilled in for the 3rd May, venue still to be confirmed. The agreed motion is:
"The House proposes that the right of Freedom of Speech be regulated by the Proclamation of Global Civility"

We've decided to turn the comments off as I can no longer dedicate the time to ongoing public debates, especially with people who are not interested in true dialogue or understanding but just in polemical showboating. If anyone sincerley wishes to comment, discuss or debate any of the posts they can contact me via the global civility email address.
